This family generated the wealth of the village
which, thanks to its raised position and its strong
walls, had a military position of undoubted
importance. Among the richest families
who settled in Calenzano there was the
Ginori, who is said to have completed here
the first experiments with the production of
porceillan. Also, The Medici, around the end of XV
century, along with Giovanni de' Medici, the future
Pope Leone X and Lorenzo de' Medici's son,
chose Calenzano as their summer residence.
